I want to go into the film editing industry where I hope to one day help create movie trailers. My school does not offer a Film or Film Studies major so I was wondering if double majoring in Marketing and Communications with a Electronic Media Concentration would suffice. I still am not sure if the communications major would help me at all with film editing.
Here is a description of the communications major:
“The electronic media concentration provides students with course work and experience in both the traditional and newer media, and in emerging communication technologies. Students also study the social, economic and international dimensions of electronic media. A sampling of careers in electronic media and radio-television broadcasting include broadcasting station manager, director of broadcasting, video and film editor, news director, sports director, community relations director, technical director, media buyer, market researcher, news anchor, sports anchor, announcer, producer, director and unit manager.”
Would these two majors allow me to pursue my goal of creating trailers?
Also, Could I be a film studies major in grad school if I majored in marketing and communications in undergrad?
